Lucile Richardot Alto

Ensemble Correspondances
Sébastien Daucé Conductor

Presentation

Sweet melancholy…The travels of artists and sovereigns between France and England in the 17th century and the influence of Italian music have inspired highly original music genres over the Channel: the first recitatives, grand “mask” arias, dramatic "scenes" were a rich ground for experiments preparing for the Purcellian “semi-opera”.

William Lawes’ and John Blow’s works are among the finest examples of these creations. Sebastian Daucé explores English vocal art and offers a tailor-made programme for one of the most fascinating voices of today: Lucile Richardot, who subtly combines music, love, night and melancholy with the Ensemble Correspondances.
