The genius Mendelssohn undertook a great work in homage to Beethoven's 9th Symphony: his symphony with soloists and choir "Song of Praise", premiered in St Thomas's in Leipzig to celebrate the four hundredth anniversary of Gutenberg's invention of the printing press. A romantic cathedral of sound dedicated to God and reason, made incandescent by Raphaël Pichon.
