Presentation
The Armenian Genocide (1915-1916) took place in Turkey during the First World War. Two-thirds of the Armenian population perished as a result of deportation, famine and massacres planned by the Ottoman empire, with more than 1.2 million victims. The 24th of April 24 has been declared a Day of Remembrance of this crime against humanity.
The Royal Chapel is the place where the voice of the Armenian people will be heard, through music that is symbolic of their history. Its capital Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded in 782BC, and Armenia was the first Christian kingdom in the 4th century. After many vicissitudes and a considerable diaspora, the Armenians are today a globalized people, but their culture is alive. Three virtuoso artists give voice to the splendid "classical music" of Armenia, so that the memory and the strength to live are united in this symbolic moment.
This show was initially scheduled as part of the 2020 - 2021 Musical Season and was postponed to the 2021 - 2022 Musical Season.
