The Royal Opera Orchestra of the Palace of Versailles, founded in 2019, brings together the best musicians from the most prestigious ensembles and orchestras across Europe. Discover the virtuosity of this dynamic orchestra with the tours it undertakes in France and abroad! On Sunday, July 30th, the Royal Opera Orchestra will travel to the Abbey of Thoronet, a remarkable 12th-century building located in Provence, for an exceptional concert featuring Bach's famous violin concertos. Théotime Langlois de Swarte, a young prodigy of the baroque violin, takes the direction of the Orchestra for the first time. He is also the first baroque violinist to be nominated for the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2020, thus recognizing his work with several baroque ensembles, such as Les Arts Florissants and Les Ombres.
Located in the Var region of France, the Cistercian Abbey of Thoronet is classified as a historical monument and forms a timeless setting to enjoy Bach's concertos for one, two, and three violins, masterpieces of the genre and late baroque, combining virtuosity and expressive singing, thus paying homage to the German composer.
Concert organized by the Productions of the Royal Opera / Versailles in partnership with the National Monuments Center.
